The Teacher's Gift: Christ Born in You

"To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."

-Colossians 1:27

Throughout the past few weeks of Advent, we have paused to notice what God is doing in ordinary places and our work. We have waited in hope, rested in peace, remembered joy in His presence, and named the light we carry in action into the world. Now, on Christmas Day, we rejoice in this promise: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

This is the gift we celebrate today, but also goes with you into all the days of your future. Christ did not come only to be remembered, but to be present. He walks with you into classrooms and churches, kitchens and parking lots, through joys and disappointments, into another year of teaching, loving, and showing up every day. His presence does not depend on perfection, focus, or energy, but on grace given freely and renewed again and again. We come to the manger today not rested, but real.

As this season of reflection comes to a close, thank you for walking through Advent with me. Thank you for the quiet moments you took to pause and ponder what God has done for us and what God continues to do in you. May the joy of Christ’s birth steady your heart, strengthen your calling, and remind you that your faithfulness matters more than you know.

As you step into the new year, may God bless you and keep you. To those of you who struggle in your vocation, question your calling, and continue to be exhausted by the work of teaching, remember that a new year does not require a new you, only the grace to begin again, held fast by a God who remains faithful. He will continue to sustain, renew, and restore you. May He grant you rest where you are weary, hope where you are uncertain, and joy that carries you forward. Christ is not only with you, He is in you, today and always.

Rejoice! Love has come.

Prayer

Immanuel, God of the birth of all new beginnings and the Hope of our future glory, on this Christmas Day, we thank You for the gift of Your Son and for Your presence that remains with us, living and active. As we enter a new year, renew weary hearts, and strengthen all who feel uncertain. May the love born in Bethlehem shape how we live, teach, and care in the days ahead. Amen.
