Hope in the Calling: Grace over Grind

ree

"...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus"

-Philippians 1:6

This week we've been focused on the pressures of the teacher in the classroom, but Saturdays carry their own kind of pressure: the errands we've saved, the tasks we've postponed, the invisible list we somehow expect to finish before Monday arrives. Pray for me friends, I'm about to head out into this cold Saturday morning for the ultimate test of patience under pressure: Christmas dress shopping with my daughter. After that, I still have those cookies begging to be baked, the laundry staring me down, and the cleaning that is waiting for my attention. The rhythm of the weekend certainly has its own beat.

But grace conducts a different rhythm to sing over your life. “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” (Philippians 1:6).

Today, remember that God isn’t asking you to prove your worth with productivity today. The good work in you is His craftsmanship, not your performance. The weekend doesn’t change that. So today, let your effort be purposeful, not pressured. Let go of the grind that insists everything must be done right now. Remember the kind of work that aligns with who God is shaping you to be, begun in you through the advent of our Savior and carried on to completion when He comes again to deliver you from the pressures of this life for eternity.

Grace is still unfolding, even in the quiet, expectant hope of waiting.

Grace over Grind

What’s one thing you can release from urgency today so you can recognize God’s work in you instead of rushing to finish your own?

Prayer

Dear Giver of Grace, thank You that the good work in me doesn’t depend on how much I accomplish today. Teach me to move with purpose, not pressure, and to trust Your grace that is carrying me forward. Amen.
